@ACTupper it's all about efficiency. Heating water to power a steam generator does not have the best efficiency. What's the energy loss of the reduction reaction to get the Mg back? Is there any particulate loss during burning and fume management that could cause local environment issues on an industrial scale?

@devinprater @koz I remember watching a doco years ago about a factory in China that had apartment buildings across the road for their thousands of employees. They even did mass weddings! Most of their employees were young adults moving in from the country for the first time.

@Angle I think computers could have a hundred CPU cores and maybe there would be an intermittent CPU/GPU that's like Cuda for general programming.

@Snoro cool, if you go to Western Australia the electricity consumption shows very little solar or wind. This is true for grid connected projects, but the majority of renewables is roof top PV. You can see the missing energy in the last 24 hours graph. The day time energy drops with the sun.

@alcinnz yeah, a bunch of tools/frameworks from the years gone by are now in JS, HTML, and CSS. I try not to use features released in the past 4 years. It'll be great if Safari updates outside the OS.

@alcinnz web dev spirals around but each twist gets a little higher. There's a lot of hype so VC companies can be flipped. But the core change is to make websites more maintainable and easier for the developers. The same can be said for any language, how much has it changed over the last 50 years? What can Rust do that cannot be done in Fortran? With web dev, we cannot change JS/HTML for another language only transpile or apply a framework
