@Snoro I take all short term trends in the EV space with a large grain of salt. We are in the early turbulent years. Even the good sales trends in Australia. It will reduce then go back up.
@Snoro the article touched on a few points but never got to the real trends. EVs used to hold their value well because they were rare. Now new EVs are dropping their price, their deprecation curve is becoming similar to ICE vehicles. The China 'issue' is very different. They had 100 brands and were reduced to a few dozen so there was a lot of product for models that didn't sell.
@sam I've seen coils/wire wrapped in plastic (small motor that won't melt it) or hot glue, and I think the cord is better.
@sam just spectating, I think that'll help reduce shocks so the components don't break.

@Snoro that article is a load of crap. The fracking industry relied on low interest rates and low environmental regulation! You cannot compare 2019 prices with 2023 prices when the CPI increases were caused by oil and gas windfall profits. Renewables are still cheaper than 5 years ago, this is only a blip. All energy sources in China have increased but renewables have increased faster (EIA China Country Analysis Brief 2023).

I had low expectations for COP28—oil emirate?—but to hear petrostates (that's US) crow about the statement to "move away" from fossil fuels as "historic" & not the utter minimum... well, that's fucking revealing.
Business as Usual will fight to the death.

@alcinnz years ago a friend wanted to make a car ad. So they walked down the street taking photos, stitched them together and superimposed a car over the top. This technique would have made it look like a video and not stop-motion.
@Snoro I take that back, they'll need $500 billion. Australia's Clean Energy Finance Corporation has USD $20 billion doing the same thing.

@Snoro I got a new hot water heat pump. I didn't know there were different types of refrigerants I could get and mine has R-410A. The next refrigerant unit I get I'll try and get a CO2 one.

A rundown of some of the heartbreaking updates out of Palestine today:
- According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 2,215 Palestinians have been killed, including 724 children, and 8,714 wounded since October 7.
- Overwhelmed, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah has begun using ice cream trucks as morgues.
- In the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, 54 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers, with more than 1,100 wounded.
- According to the Palestinian Health Minister, 28 health care workers have been killed by Israel since October 7. 15 medical centers have been damaged by Israeli strikes, with Beit Hanoun Hospital and Al-Durrah Children's Hospital being rendered out of commission. As well, 23 ambulances “have been damaged and rendered inoperable.”
- The Jordan Field Hospital has also shut down due to Israeli attacks. It “used to provide free medical services to about 1,000-1,200 people daily.”
- Since October 12, most Palestinians no longer have access to drinking water through the tap. According to OCHA, “As a last resort, people are consuming brackish water from agricultural wells, triggering serious concerns about the spread of waterborne diseases.”
- Since October 7, in the West Bank, OCHA has tallied 63 settler attacks against Palestinians, including some cases where Israeli forces were involved. “This represents an average of nine incidents per day, compared with a daily average of three incidents since the beginning of this year.”
