@devrtz yeah I've seen a few nightly flatpaks. So if people want the latest they should follow the steps to build the development version to test and they are fully in control of the process, not some community packager.

I found a new game. Three tries to locate the daily satellite view on an OpenStreetMap based map.
🗺️ Daily Challenge 5.6.2022
TOTAL POINTS 91/100 (944,63km off, 0m search radius)

I also enjoy planing worldle and contributing to OSM, so it's up my alley.

@devrtz so true. (as a newbie) I wonder if there are nightly builds people (not maintainers) can opt into to get these 'new features' and WIPs?
Or would that be too much of a hassle for developers of core components?

@barclakj @natecull I'm new to tech (computer science student) and it sounds like web3 and cryptocurrencies/blockchains are the modern day equivalent.

@marauder @chaosexanima but I do agree with everything you want, we just need to understand what fedi is and not is, and sadly it is not any more private then Twitter.

@marauder @chaosexanima fedi is not private and if you are not already being mined then no one thought of us as valuable ... yet.

I like how the election ended up being about climate change but I wonder how the government could withstand the force from the fossil fuel giants and News Corp?

@maia make sure it's a multinational corporation so you don't pay tax and located in a country without extradition to your target countries.

Imagine #libraries don't exist, but there's this person who thought of them and is trying to convince everyone else about them.

-Borrow books for free? People are going to steal them!
-You can just come in to use a computer? Well that's just going to be abused by freeloaders.
-Staff? Who is going to pay them? Why should my taxes be wasted subsidising access to books for people who haven't saved and bought their own?

How many amazing things do we dismiss? What is our society missing out on?

@weirdwriter@writeout.ink yeah, some cases would be, kill the author so you can use their works, or like the author of Wheel of Time, he didn't finish the series before he passed and now Amazon is making a TV series based off it.
The authors family could inherent money or businesses but not their creative works.

@weirdwriter@writeout.ink interesting, I never thought of it that way. What about copyright after death?
It could be X years after creation or the life of the author/s, which ever is longer. That way corporations can have X years of copyright.
At the moment I think its 70 years after death.
