@Stoori the local people have a story for when the maar at Mount Gambier, SA formed 6000 years ago. Also, the culture from the mainland and Tasmania is very similar, even tho Tasmania separated 8000 years ago.
@be @pitermach @alcinnz callouts can be right place, right time. Having failure doesn't mean you should stop, just review the tactics. Especially for people who have been marginalised, it'll take more than one go. As Piotr said, they are out there.
@be @alcinnz If you put in the basics, even if the UX is terrible, potential users could experiment and give suggestions. Just show Mixxx is willing to listen and work with different requirements that still achieves the mission of Mixxx to allow 'all DJs' perform live music.
P.S. I've never DJed or used Mixxx

@nothien@tilde.zone @devinprater@dragonscave.space there's no easy miracle plan and mental health is important. You've probably heard this but actioning it is hard.
- Eat more vegetables and a variety of vegetables.
- Get some exercise, so you puff and maybe a little sweaty.
- Sleep well and
- Connect with people and friends.
Over time this would give you more physical and mental energy.
@wholesomedonut @lanodan @alcinnz @be For months Purism staff have been saying they are buying up as much stock as they can to get ahead of manufacturing. In terms of sustainability, I now have to use my old Android for a longer 😅
There has been a chat about the 'lack' of Librem 5 shipments in April (people saying they got it)
If they do fall over, at least their code got into Gnome. As I got skin in the game hopefully they stay afloat
The coalition has five modest demands for Disney:
I. Honor contracts now held by Disney and its subsidiaries
II. Provide royalty payments and statements to all affected authors
III. Update their licensing page with an FAQ for writers about how to handle missing royalties
IV. Create a clear, easy-to-find contact person or point for affected authors.
V. Cooperate with author organizations who are providing support to authors and agents.

Microsoft now owns, or will soon own, one of the best text-to-speech engines for blind power-users, through its acquisition of Nuance. But the code has been abandoned for years. It seems unlikely that this TTS engine is a valuable asset for Microsoft. So let's petition them to open-source it. https://www.change.org/p/microsoft-open-source-eti-eloquence (No, I didn't start the petition, but I'm in agreement with it.)
2 YEARS! For 730 days, Julian #Assange has been rotting in "British Guantanamo", after being forcefully removed from EC embassy, his political asylum illegally revoked.
His crime? Exposing the true nature of the war crimes of the US and the UK, in an undeniable, un-censorable and searchable way.
Massive breaches of the rule-of-law concern us all!
Beyond Assange and WikiLeaks is the fate of free speech, free press, and our collective ability to publish online.
@xiroux I want to live in a world where people feel connected to life around them. FOSS allows people to connect to the makers of their 'devices'/software and it's not just an abstract lifeless commodity.
Delete Chrome. Now.
Google is using its exceptionally powerful position to make *the browser itself* analyze your browsing behavior and serve that on a plate in the form of "cohorts" to anyone interested.
They are transforming Chrome into a "browsing-history-passport" - right now.
If you care about your intellectual freedom even a little bit, you must put Chrome out of your life as soon as possible. Support others doing the same.
We do a disservice to people who genuinely have a hard time picking up social cues or "reading the room", when we put that in the same category as decades of toxic behavior--behavior which literally thousands of people have attempted to change since the 1980s.
I would encourage you to read Sumana's post, here: "Not The First Time We Tried" (many other detailed such accounts exist).

I'm sure plenty of you disagree, I think I recall specifically that.
Personally I like advocating P2P, to avoid asking asking the question of "which server do you want to use?"
@StayGrounded_net haha, free 10 min go at flying the plane.
I renamed the essay to "Towards A Cooperative Technology Movement" and moved it to https://cooperativetechnology.codeberg.page/
@Ventronik sparql could be useful. Gnome Tracker is for the desktop but there are possibly other projects for remote data.
"If a majority of apps store data with libtracker-sparql, the shell could use libtracker-sparql to query these databases directly and save the overhead of spawning each app. The big advantage of the federated approach, though, is that search providers can store data in the most suitable method for that data." - https://samthursfield.wordpress.com/tag/tracker/
I am into science and climate activism. I love to learn about social issues and to challenge my own perspectives. I'm also into free and open-source software and I am back in University studying computer science.
