I disagree with part of the quote. Apple is expanding its business in addition to hardware, not instead of it. They need complete control of hardware to enforce how competitors can use their platforms.

@kyle yeah, I think the quote would stand if adjusted to note that their hardware innovations exist to further vendor lock in, and to maintain their total rule over software and data existing on the platform.

@ajmartinez @kyle didn’t Facebook try to do phones for that exact reason?
