"Gee I wonder why I ever chose to install #Windows on this laptops hdd instead of its ssd."

Oh yeah that's why.

@Gina 20GB ssd!?

Are you going to replace both with larger ssds? Or just stick to the current hardware?

@ajmartinez I can't even find the current SSD on my motherboard (how am I even a sysadmin 😂), so I just swapped out the hdd for a newer ssd I found a few days ago. Now cloning to the new ssd.

@Gina @ajmartinez well now i'm curious how that SSD could be hidden. is it inside that bay where the DVD drive usually goes? that's where I put my second SSD in my ThinkPad.

@grainloom @Gina @ajmartinez On my laptop I discovered that the SSD was one of those fancy new things that don't even try to look like a spinning disk in a box, it was just a memory stick on a special socket on the motherboard under the keyboard.

@clacke @grainloom @ajmartinez this laptop is 10 years old, I wonder if that technology already existed back then 😅

Yes. But it seems they started appearing around 2013-2015, so not relevant for @Gina 's case.

@Gina it's that SanDisk branded square right in the middle of the main board, next (and similar) to the WiFi card. You might even find an upgrade that will fit.

@Gina looks like it’s in the middle of the board (Sandisk thing next to the WiFi module). If you search for that part number you will probably see your options for upgrading. Hope the cloning went well in any case!
