Okay, so I finally published my first impressions running #Phosh and #Mobian on the #PocoF1! :phosh: :debian:

Screenshots included, along with a few photos so you can see what the phone itself looks like. Link below, and sneak preview attached 😉️

@badrihippo Nice write up! Some outlook:

- Background setting will be possible without CSS soon (hopefully form 0.43 on): gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/p

- We have more and (and hopefully) better dictionaries for presage now: phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.42.1 .Won't help with the slight typos you mentioned but there's an fzf based completer too. maybe we should combine those?

1/2

@badrihippo

- gnome-screenshot works for screenshots (or power button long pess)

- We'll get `alt` and `ctrl` in p-o-s in the next release too: gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/phosh-

And just so no one gets scared: audio / call setup is fully out of the box on non Qualcomm devices (like PinePhone and Liberm5) already 😃.

2/2

@phosh oh yay, good to know about the background setting! (The least mission-critical, but also the most fun 😉)

I didn't know about the fzf-based completer, but combining those sounds cool! Actually, I've been playing with @zachdecook's swipeGuess, which is surprisingly good at fixing typos too.

Oh yeah I've used power button long-press a bit, but I usually need a timeout to set things up 😅 didn't know about gnome-screenshot; I will try that!

@badrihippo @phosh @zachdecook Funny enough the background thing is rather more involved than lots of other things we did recently but it helped cleaning up lots of things.

Regarding screenshots: phosh's nightly builds (phosh.mobi/posts/phosh-nightly) ship a gnome-screenshot with gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-s applied but we should move the UI bits into phosh eventually so we can have timers, etc as you mentioned.

@badrihippo @phosh and there's flathub.org/apps/org.adishatz. which works with phosh right away (and which could be packaged for Debian too asi it has few dependencies)

@agx oh nice! I should start testing out the nightly builds. If I flash the image to microSD it should be possible to boot from there, and then get back to my primary (in-memory) system when I want right? (Okay, I can probably find the answer to that myself)

Adding org.adishatz.Screenshot to the list of "potential things I can try my hand at packaging, if still necessary, once I get some free time to learn"

@phosh

@badrihippo @phosh Testing of the nightly packages is always welcome (as they shape up the next Phosh release).

There's not necessarily a need to flash as they mix well with Debian/Mobian Trixie (it behaves basically like Debian Experimental) - but booting from SD and adding the nightly repo would put you on the safe side.
