@Pattyagray Nice! I wish I could still find my old Geocities site. I was in the "Silicon Valley" neighborhood if I remember correctly.
Mastohost @mastohost is taking on new accounts again. You can get your own Mastodon server for $6 a month! The great thing about it is they take care of the software, you do not need to be technical to run a server.
Mastohost is where sauropods.win is hosted, and I can recommend them. Support is top-notch, and it's all been smooth sailing.
@JenMsft Ha!
This is fascinating! The Braille Institute has developed a font - free to download - that's designed to be clearer for readers with lower vision.
An example of one of the aspects of low legibility that they tackled attached.
It's named Atkinson Hyperlegible. Atkinson was the Institute's founder - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Robert_Atkinson
Here's where you can read about the font and download it: https://brailleinstitute.org/freefont

@f1337 Not for me at all! It's very easy to compartmentalize with email based on who you give addresses to. For example my personal address has zero noise since only friends/family know about it.
@mikebaz Nice! That was pretty short though.
Wow! Look at this CSS/HTML art camera by KASSANDRA SANCHEZ! https://codepen.io/kassandrasanch/pen/WNxJZyz
Oh ffs

Humanity has historically eaten 6,000 plants; now we eat mostly NINE: This is a great (scary) story from Bloomberg on how global diets have converged on a few crops in a few decades – with many alarming implications. Well told (super smart graphics!) #food #climate

An AI test from 1971 shows you need to adjust your #ChatGPT expectations.
In 1971, Terry Winograd devised the Winograd Schemas, simple sentence understanding tasks that require the use of knowledge and commonsense reasoning. Humans understand them easily. ChatGPT... not so much.
Did you know? Half of all U.S. states, 25 to be exact, carry Indigenous names. Today we will be taking a look at the 25 states and the meanings of their names. They will be listed in alphabetical order under this post.

Fun fact - #layoffs are a social connection amongst businesses, and do little (to nothing) to actually help companies recover during economic downturns.
Don’t take my word for it - this comes from years of study and scholarly research:

@CrowderSoup This script makes it super easy: https://pivpn.io/
@CrowderSoup Ooh, GoToSocial sounds like an interesting project. I've only got Pihole, PiVPN (wireguard & openVPN), cloudflared (upstream DNS encryption), and a gopher server on my RPI3.
