I've been able to get my hands on the #TruthSocial source code (they do have a link to it on their website, although their website is not accessible to me).
They have disabled federation features. I absolutely expected that, just confirming it for others. It is just another walled garden.

@WPalant I don't know. How many people have a Wifi router that has a file/print server built in? Many have DDNS and VPN servers, too. A simple wizard letting people turn on the server features they want is pretty great! Getting OpenVPN working on my latest router was crazy easy like that.

So-called "web3" is about decentralization, if by decentralization you mean adding a bunch of much more expensive and totally unaccountable middlemen.
@martijnbraam @postmarketOS Cool! The "Pocket PCs" of 21 years ago were great. I think that should have been the generic term for smartphones instead of "smartphones".
