@coolboymew My problem with this meme is that both peole have different goals and aren't necessarily in opposition. Greta's ideas won't cause more economic devastation than not implementing them would, but even ignoring that, Greta's solutions are based off of her views, her solutions aren't based off of her views.

@mewmew The main issue is that Greta is the same old same old, an overly angry idealist that's being touted around for the fact that she's an angry convenient child. Basically, a media milkcow. But nothing nobody else didn't see 10000 times

She's spreading awareness. It's not, and shouldn't be, her job to solve everything. Her point is that politicians are the ones who should be solving this, and they aren't taking any actions, in some cases they flat out deny it, and that needs to change.

@mewmew @coolboymew to be fair I find the science in "clientology" to be very hard to follow.

Claims made by activists fluctuate wildly and are frequently debunked in very public and humiliating ways cf. Al Gore.

Although I am sympathetic to concerns about global heating, I do not for a moment believe she can make on anything but pure faith the claim that global warming is real when even I struggle to make sense of the science.

In the end, the reason politicians "deny" global warming is because there is no convincing and coherent evidence of it, and that the predictions made in the past have been systematically debunked. It is nothing so convenient as "denial". Frankly, your first thought when someone says the word denial should be that you are being semantically manipulated.

There is also the problem of how our political system is totally fucked.

But none of this matters because we're all poor as dirt and will never be able to make a difference, so let's just post blobcats to forget about it all.

In Africa and Asia they burn mountains of toxic plastic to recover metals, and dump barges full of trash straight into the ocean. Meanwhile we're here talking about taxing our relatively clean fossil fuel plants as if that's going to fix the problem.

@fluffy @meowski @coolboymew I totally agree here BTW, the WTO should've required that all countries participating have good labor and climate laws (and enforce them), so outsourcing wouldn't be profitable because a "race to the bottom" would not be possible.
