It definitely can be hard to find out what account is the official account for certain people, projects, or companies on #Mastodon. Don't know if there's an easy answer.
ONE POSSIBLE SOLUTION could be a pixel code like connection to #official websites that would allow for self #verification. It would only be possible to do if you are the Mastodon account user AND have access to website backends. Example... @Blender could have a backend link to Blender.org.
@micahbp @Blender there is actually a verification system that involves uploading a verification code to a site you own. Haven't bothered to do it myself yet though.
