I need opinions on lights on Laptops.
Caps lock
Function lock
Num lock
Are they a waste of space and effort, you find out quickly enough if caps lock is on and it would be slightly frustrating having the lights on.

My old HP laptop allows remapping most LEDs to most other things: such as internal storage or network activity, audio input/output mute and so on — making extra LEDs extremely useful! My old MacBook Pro isn't as flexible in this regard, I suppose it depends on how well the embedded controller is supported by the Linux kernel.

And I use the CapsLock LED to indicate the alternative layout — which is quite useful when you have to use a non-Latin one often. I don't have to use any software indicators for that.
I may have just created a lot of new work for Sean but if the people want it...
