i dropped my #pinephone this morning on the way to a 3 hour AP practice test, and cracked the top right corner of the screen through the screen protector and damaged the midframe :(
the practice test didn't even go well. at least i can replace the screen and midframe myself with $60 and a screwdriver
then again now might be the time to finally buy a #pinephonepro if i want to use it for university this fall. the OG pinephone works great for high school right now though, so i don't know
@hamblingreen
I am not sure the PPP is the way to go. Sound quality, in my experience was significantly worse than the OG Pinephone.
@hamblingreen
The PPP is definitely faster. If you are not using it for calls, then yes, it is entirely worth it. The biggest issue with calls is that the people at the other end hear an echo of thermselves.
@jlcrawf regardless of what i do, i'm going to order a replacement screen for the pinephone so i have it as a backup. i'm also going to order a replacement charging circuit for my old pinephone keyboard case that i fried a while back now that replacement parts are available for it. time for another pine64 shopping run!
@jlcrawf i remember a time when this was the case on the pinephone, for me it came down to setting the call volume in biktor's modem firmware lower or something, i don't remember. it ended up being resolved eventually, and i only call very occasionally. it might be worth it, i'll decide tomorrow when i have time to think about it. the screen still functions just fine on my pinephone so it's not pressing
