@film_girl A few answers as I am reading this. I have been working with Purism since 2015. We have always been developing Free Software only and invested into existing projects with an upstream first approach. It is why we are pushing for Chatty to join the GNOME circle of apps. Just as we did for Libhandy (becoming Libadwaita) and other software like Debian or Linux.
@film_girl We are a SPC funded by the people only and for the people (giving back our R&D through Free licenses). We had very bad supply chain issues related to the pandemic but we have worked hard to find solutions, we have not given up and we have delivered over 95% of our pre-orders so far. There was indeed some immense delays and we are deeply sorry about it but we are very close to shipping parity now.
@film_girl We chose to stay away from private investors in order to avoid anyone pulling the company's goals toward their own profits. This made us do some choices regarding purchase policies in order to protect us from possible abuses and supply chain issues before having stocks. Unfortunately, supply chain issues have hit us during the past 3 years.
@film_girl We provided store credit, plus a 20% bonus as a gratitude to those customers who have yet to receive their devices. We are aware that not all customers will be satisfied but we do our best with our limited resources.
@film_girl Our Forum has been down because our servers, along with our main website, shop and PureOS repos have been under DDoS attack for the last 4 days. We are sorry for the interruption and we are putting our energy into solving this issue.
@film_girl The Librem 5 we made articles on our blog explaining how the Librem 5 is fully owned by it user. It also is one of the most modular and repairable phone in the market: battery, cameras, cellular, wifi, USB, and motherboard can be individually upgraded or replaced.
