I'm no expert but here is how I imagine it.

Camping out in the woods, like Snusmumriken.

Hunting.

> How could they afford textiles, weapons and armour?

Mostly they kept using the same old worn things. Maybe once in a while they would trade something from their hunting, like an animal skin, for something they needed.

> Where did they stable their horses?

They were on foot.
