@chrichri question for the user name change say it was user A now it is user B, can you describe which fields you needed to change and why maybe just one example in passwd? I mean did you have to change the "purism" to "B" everywhere that user showed up or just add your new user in addition to purism in case changing the user would cause network issues etc.
I'm not the author of the post - sorry, if that hasn't been clear.
BTW: I wouldn't change the username without a very good reason. If you'd need support you'd make it more difficult to let someone help you the further you configure your system away from the known standard ;-) ...
