Waiting for America to improve itself is about as useful as giving Enron more time to explain it's books.

Ocean waters are aging? What?
Yes: we oceanographers call 'age' the time since deep ocean water was last in touch with the atmosphere. It is a measure of 'ventilation', deep vertical overturning of the ocean.
Data show this process is slowing: #AMOC slowdown.
That is bad news for climate, and there is a serious risk of the AMOC crossing a tipping point in the next few decades towards an unstoppable shutdown. One of the worst-case climate change nightmares.

"Monopolising the ability to revolutionise production has meant concentrating these monopoly activities inside the imperialist states – things like design, research and development, advanced engineering and so on. But concentrating those types of labour inside the imperialist states also means, increasingly, divesting from all other types of labour."

A horrifying story came out today of a young adult who attended an ICE protest in Santa Ana four days ago and lost an eye to ICE.

ICE agents shot him at point blank range in the face with a 40mm launcher.

Notice the NYT's framing here: a near "disaster" means that the aggressors almost didn't succeed in their invasion. (That they did end up succeeding was of course a disaster for the 80 people they killed.)

Let's ask the real question:

Firefox users,

do you want any AI directly built into Firefox, or separated out into extensions?

@firefoxwebdevs
@davidgerard
@tante

@firefoxwebdevs Where's the option for "I do not want this bullshit toy anywhere near my browser"? Is someone forcing you at gunpoint to be pro-slop? Why are all the executives so into this crap? Can't we just let them have their cocaine daydreams without subject the rest of us to it?

Someone I know was killed in the strikes on Venezuela. I was on call with them, and others have just confirmed they're dead.

I think I'm going to check out for a while.

If the US could deal with its own problems, that would be fucking awesome.
