@fishcharlie Seems like Elon has fired all the backend engineers, so all the new stuff since he is here is just UI changes, including this. Backend stays the same.
But it seems the twitter backend is becoming super flaky, often failing to return results (getting 404, failing to return videos, etc). So I will have to figure out a way to reliably get the info I need, or have graceful degradation when I don't get everything
@vincent @fishcharlie While my Twitter app was finally disabled last week, up until the last day, it still had access to the full API, including the client used to post, something he said he removed months ago.
Every change has always been user facing to HIDE the fact the backend isn't being updated.
@vincent Crazy. Hopefully stuff can remain available enough for bird.makeup to continue.
@vincent If this is correct, you and nitter will be able to fix it isn't it? This war against Open Web must not be lost, that's crucial for our freedom.
@vincent @fishcharlie I wonder if the flakiness is related to what Elon claims as the reason for this "temporary emergency measure", maybe they really could be experiencing issues and this is some dumb way that did not even work to try to fix them.
