So now that the twitter official API ban is here, https://bird.makeup/ is now the only working twitter crossposter/bridge left working.
Kinda lonely !
@gogobonobo bird.makeup doesn't use a Twitter account do do its thing, so I feel quite safe! 🤷♂️
But thank you!
@vincent doesn’t work with mastodon.social
@Alishara Yeah mastodon.social has banned bird.makeup, you'll have to move servers if you want to use it...
@vincent @Alishara I'm sympathetic. On the one hand, I'd like to be able to subscribe to content from the birdsite (like an RSS feed), so that I'm less tempted spend time outside the Fediverse. On the other hand, I understand that means that my local instance has to host whatever I'm subscribing to, which puts extra burden on it, and I don't want to abuse it. Also, the original authors aren't giving consent for their content to be mirrored, and I can see how that is thorny.
@vincent Hm, it stopped working for me — @santafereporter@bird.makeup and @thenewmexican@bird.makeup disappeared from my feed and running a search doesn't turn them up …
I don't think that's true. Birdsite.live still works.
@vincent we can’t thank you, enough!!
@vincent can you provide some instructions on how to set it up?
seems you need at least 1 record in the database or it will crash but haven't figured out the syntax
@vincent Shh they’ll find you. Seems like all they have to do is follow a specific single account and then look at who accessed them from their side.
(Awesome service. I love it. Keep fighting the good fight.)
