I'm still done with Twitter as an active user but I still see myself reading the feeds of people who aren't on Mastodon (and probably never will). It would be cool if there was a way to customize a home timeline with one-way content from Twitter.

@lrz other than a scraper, there isn’t and can’t be.

would be nice if you could follow RSS feeds from your mastodon server to enable stuff like that but iirc they rejected that feature

@thomasfuchs Mmh one way would be to move to a self-hosted server which I hack to add the functionality I want :)

@lrz @thomasfuchs There are Twitter-to-Activity-Pub bridges (e. g. tweets.icu), but they may be blocked for your instance (like here on norden. social e. g.). If you’d find an instance which doesn’t block them, you could create an account there, to just follow Twitter users “read only”.

@doritc @thomasfuchs zomg this is amazing, thanks so much! (it definitely worked on my instance, although I have yet to read something in the timeline, hope it really works :))

@lrz @doritc @thomasfuchs can I humbly suggest my projet bird.makeup? It’s a high-performance fork of birdsitelive that should replicate tweets within 20 minutes 😁
