I have nothing against PIXAR (the software freedom lines I draw permits internal tools), I have everything against Disney through whom they exclusively publish. Though they probably wouldn't be a household name without Disney.
That said The Blender Open Movies (which appear all over FOSS marketting, for fear of appearing to endorse piracy) are excellent alternatives! Even if I'd like to see a feature-length one. More Cosmos Laundromat or Agent 327 please?

The Blender Open Movies are diverse & charming computer animated short films created exclusively using Blender & other free software. They push forward the artistic capabilities & usability of our software, to the extent that Blender is now overtaking Autodesk Maya's firstmover advantage.
Blender Open Movies include:
Elephants Dream about two men running through a creepy clockwork machine themed around communications tech.
Big Bucks Bunny depicts bunny taking vengence on cruel squirrels.
2/3?
Sintel depicts a medieval begger girl searching far & wide for her lost dragon.
Tears of Steel is live action depicting a romantic breakup leading to a cat-robot apocolypse.
Glass Half depicts a (gibberish) argument between whether dark or cheery paintings are the good ones.
Caminandes are three Scrat-like animal antics animations featuring a llama.
Cosmos Laundromat depicts a suicidal sheep given an opportunity to go an adventure through the multiverse housed within the Cosmos Laundromat.

@vincent I am subscribed! I encourage others to do so as well!
I don't do much with that subscription though, I just want to see more of these Open Movies!
