PSA: melatonin is a hormone which has the function of regulating sleep in the human body. It's not the only regulator of our sleep. Melatonin, like most hormones, has multiple functions. This is the important part: melatonin also regulates the onset of puberty.

It's not a good idea to give melatonin to children. I no longer take it myself.
