Do you joined Fedi because you were got banned from Twitter/Facebook/etc?

Do you think, Fedi may be flooded with people banned from other networks for inappropriate behaviour? Or it does already? Do you feel uncomfortable being in same network with them?

The threat to suspend the other, potentially thousands, of users on the instance, isn't "protecting myself", it's an attempt at coercion. It's an attempt to moderate *your* instance. You need to ask yourself why they *ever* made that request of you, rather than Clicking The Button.
