@terryenglish @megan I use an unmoderated server and personally have not blocked anyone on Fediverse, like, ever. idk. Users putting themselves into echo chambers, I don't care, what bugs me is when software developers (smartphone apps, server software) start baking these "anti features" into the programs, or when servers begin maliciously de-linking without having dialog with their users.

most people who understand the network agree that anti-social patterns have a negative impact on the network, the question is who you point the fingers at really. Users are going to do user things; instead I look toward developers and admins concerning the "antisocial creep"

Cults and radical ideologies and abusive relationships have a few things in common, but what you are suggesting is one of them: they are more stable, they are more extreme, and they have lower attrition rates when they can limit personal relationships with people outside the bubble. Often these groups have to expend energy to maintain the isolation; you're doing their work for them if you ensure that they are isolated.
