@meowski @Prodigal @ProfPlum @Terry my dermatologist said I was washing way too much, using too much of the wrong soap, and exfoliating too often. Apparently you are right, meowski, the legs don't need to be washed unless you get something on them. Also no part of your body needs to be exfoliated more than once a week under penalty of---well, idk, skin irritation I guess. She (the dermatologist) also had many opinions regarding deodorant soaps, perfumed soaps, and especially the wicked and reprehensible moisturizing soaps, which seemed to be a particularly evil case of false advertising and waste in her mind.
Now I can use unscented liquid bath soap on only the crotch, butt, pits, feet and back (and only on the back because I sometime still get pimples there, otherwise it's not allowed). I am permitted exfoliation once a week using a soft back scrubber or loofah, and once daily facial washing with an unscented facial cleansing soap. I can also moisturize every other day with an old person's unscented body lotion such as Dermasil or Eucerin. Scented laundry detergent and fabric softeners are banned.
I disliked all these rules at first but i have to admit it's working. I miss having spring fresh laundry but the last time I cheated I was itching for days. If I want to get out of the shower smelling good (as opposed to just not smelling bad any more) I can cheat by using a highly perfumed conditioner on my hair, then washing my body after I condition to get the residue off my skin (although this, too, is NOT ALLOWED).
I do use deodorant but I stick to the more lightly scented ones like Arm & Hammer, and sometimes it will start itching and I'll have to scrub it off and put Old Person Lotion in my pits (which does nothing to stop me from sweating like an animal but does stop the itching). I'm pretty sure that deodorant is NOT ALLOWED but she forgot to tell me that and I certainly won't be bringing it up in my next appointment lest it be forbidden. Thank you for reading my blog post.
