The only thing I don't like about the Fredo meme is how insulting it is to Fredo.
If you read Mario Puzo's novels, prior to the death of Vito Corleone, Fredo was a respected man. They knew that he was not as quick on his feet as Michael but in an expositionary part of the novel after the first attempt on Vito's life where Michael is narrating, he says that he remembers Fredo as being the toughest of the three brothers, but without the brutal strength and temper of Sonny. Even though a childhood sickness had slowed his mind somewhat during his development he could be trusted. He loved his father and believed Vito was superhuman and when Vito was shot during Fredo's watch he was so shaken it put him in his bed for a week. He loved his family and his people, though his actions that were driven by jealousy and resentment at being passed over after Sonny's death tarnished him and caused his demise. He deserved death for his betrayal but he wanted very badly to prove that he could make moves in the street on his own. He died a traitor's death but he was a loyal son before that.
That piece of shit reporter they call Fredo couldn't shine Fredo's Testoni loafers, tbh.
