@terryenglish @d @chjara it depends on what the government doing deregulation is aiming for is it removing environmental regulation because big oil is lobbying for it or is it removing unfair advantages granted to state owned enterprises. I don’t think any sensible person would say that there’s no corruption in market systems but if you look at countries with freer economies they have citizens with much better living conditions.The UN is a really terrible organisation reforming it to be functional would take god knows how long and it would take probably centuries for it to gain all the trust it has lost to people who think we need it never mind the people who aren’t sympathetic to organisations like it.
@overflow I suppose I would take exception to the idea that a less regulated economy leads to better living standards if that's what you're saying here. Often times the opposite happens like in South America and the former Soviet Union. I will agree however, that it depends on the circumstances of what actions are being taken by the government in an economy. I will also agree that the UN has many, many problems. @chjara@mk.absturztau.be @d
@terryenglish @chjara @d that’s why just changing policies alone is no and you need a complete overhaul of the governance system to mute the impact of wealth on elections and provide an environment in which multiple actors can compete to form the government or just be lucky and have a benevolent dictator
