Brainless contrarianism is the hallmark of the populist right.

@terryenglish I don't know. "Good job dabbing on the football team. Organized sports are so fascist.", sounds more left to me.

@petit The leftists that I know of, when the subject of organized sports does come up in serious discussion (which is rare) usually it's to lament that so much thought and energy is being put into them because they're essentially a distraction. Let's take your strawman and assume that it's accurate though. Who is really the bigger contrarian? Someone who's against popular organized sports or someone who won't take a vaccine to their own detriment because "the media bad"?

@terryenglish Maybe right versus left isn't a meaningful dichotomy and there are contrarian posers on both "sides" in roughly equal amounts?

Imagine hippies, posers, and hipsters doing drugs to their own detriment because "the system bad".

@petit Perhaps there are contrarians on both sides that is certainly true though I'm not sure it's as much a wash as you state.

"Imagine hippies, posers, and hipsters doing drugs to their own detriment because "the system bad"."

This isn't something that happens in the real world.

@terryenglish

"This isn't something that happens in the real world." Really? It's as real as people not getting vaccinated because of the media.
