mewmew stop focusing on the least common denominator that's known as "american politics"
@mewmew then dont participate in the system at all. we can exist outside of it
@wowaname not really. and besides, just giving up on the government isn't going to help things get better.
@wowaname @mewmew

let's agree that the federal government needs to be abolished or at least reduced in scope to something like the European Commission. this centralized federation is bullshit. all it does is declare war on abstract concepts and waste money on unnecessary World Police actions. oh and spy on its own citizens. US States can and do run themselves in a much more democratic way. ideally these can be broken down further into smaller, independent pieces, but its an ongoing process of decentralization and liberation.
@xj9 @wowaname sure, I agree with that.

I was more disagreeing that you can go entirely "off-the-grid" under the current government system, so it's irrelevant - that would be a nice thing that we should move towards but it currently isn't possible for most people.
@mewmew @xj9 mewmew that's a bad take. Both parts of it.
@kick @xj9 you don't think it would be nice to be able to live off the grid? or that it already is possible for most people?
@mewmew @xj9 I think making many smaller governments is undeniably worse.

But anyway, it's possible to live off-grid now, at least mostly. It sucks, and you have to go to foreign lands, but you can still do it.

@kick Making the government smaller only makes sense if you ignore that corporations exist. @mewmew @xj9
