@moonman Statements like that sorta adds credence to the whole " is a FBI honeypot" theory.

@moonman I don't understand. Wasn't he given a huge sum of money by his user base? Why didn't he just build his own infrastructure? I guess he didn't anticipate insane shit like that happening.

@moonman He's such a fucking dumbass. No wonder is in the state that it's in.

@terryenglish @moonman And what exactly is that state GAB is in, pray tell?

@zaitcev A technically inferior Mastodon instance hugbox for right and far right wing boomers at best. At worst a FBI honeypot plus everything else previously listed. @moonman

@terryenglish @zaitcev @moonman don't forget to tell him about all the bots masquerading as totally real gab posters

@terryenglish @moonman So the envy is another religion of the liberals, it appears. Meanwhile I'm participating the groups that Gargon does not have. Neither does Lain, come to think of it.

@zaitcev @terryenglish @moonman Gab is literally one of the worst functioning instances on the network, both technically and in terms of community. Threads with other instances often appear broken. At least 1 in 10 posts are blatant bots, and the users that aren't are often so monotonous (dare I say NPC?) that they're indistinguishable from bots. The legitimate users are so autistic and obsessed with politics they're impossible to talk to. It's literally all you motherfuckers have to talk about. Overzealous jannies mute most of the few instances that don't block Gab (the excuse they use is porn, but the ones they mute in reality tend to be those critical of Gab, such as Kiwi Farms and Free Speech Extremist). The Gab team are constantly e-begging for millions of dollars to fund new projects that always end up either being worse versions of things that already exists, or cancelled due to lack of interest.

It's such a shitshow that it's legitimately hilarious.
@J @zaitcev @moonman @terryenglish I still use it when FSE is down, and it seems reliable where that's concerned.
@moonman @terryenglish I wonder what made someone with no background, knowledge or even arguably genuine interest in technology to create that social network. People call him a scammer, but I don't think he ever imagined he would get the financial support he ended up with.

@deadheat It's too bad because that money could have easily gone to companies that have the expertise and ability to deliver *cough* *cough* . There is clearly a demand for social networks that allow for free speech and expression but instead those at created a cult of personality wrapped in a hugbox. @moonman

@terryenglish @moonman I actually had no idea where he came from so I looked into it a little bit, It seems he created an "ad tech" company in 2011 and moved to the Silicon Valley to work on it, so he had at least some experience with technology and social media.

By his attitude and decisions, I thought he was just some crazy guy who tried to launch his own Twitter more as political activism than anything else.
