The SJWs are societie's version of cancer. They will probably destroy free software for the simple reason that they don't know or care about the principles that make it what it is. They're like that kid who sees you with something cool and then steal it from you and then just destroy it later because it wasn't about having the thing itself. They just wanted it because you like it.

This article is worse than the underside of my shoe. People like this are exactly the reason why RMS started the free/libre software movement.
>nd abrupt fall from grace after comments regarding Jeffrey Epstein’s victim Virginia Giuffre in an MIT email thread
>https://www.engadget.com/2019/09/17/rms-fsf-mit-epstein
>linking to fallacious article.
Journalism yes !

>There is always a concern and worry about how to strike a balance between proprietary and open-source,” says DB Hurley, the founder of the Mautic community and now CTO of Acquia’s Marketing Cloud
Pic related.

>The strength of open-source is in the number of people spreading and improving certain software. If the delicate balance between free, skilled labour and profitable intellectual property is not respected, then “open-source will lose significant benefits as it slowly becomes nothing more than a watered-down ‘trial’ version of proprietary software,” argues Hurley.

@terryenglish @astheroth @dude @mangeurdenuage @roka Not really cancer. More like gentrifying yuppies. They hear about a cool neighborhood, they show up and demand the removal of all the dirty, uncouth people that made the neighborhood cool, then you get a big outdoor shopping mall.

I love SJW metaphors. 😊 I know the topic is stale but we are still living through the havoc they wreak.

@mangeurdenuage @roka @dude @astheroth @terryenglish That post is what got me reading her stuff. That's quite possibly the best encapsulation of the conflict that I've seen.

Agreed.
@terryenglish
This why I don't like Foss and oss people because they don't give shit about Foss. Like I would relate to stallmen ideas like wanting to make software for the people. But the people these days are just brainlet.
@astheroth @dude @mangeurdenuage @roka @p

@1iceloops123
It seems like it's the newcomers to FOSS that don't really understand what it's about and really only like the label/brand for virtue signalling.
@p @mangeurdenuage @astheroth@mstdn.io @roka @dude

@1iceloops123 Take the girl who wrote that emotional argument of an article that got Stallman cancelled as a perfect example. Would someone who really understood free software and the importance of RMS really have wanted that done to him? @p @mangeurdenuage @astheroth@mstdn.io @roka @dude

@terryenglish
I think the girl didn't understand what he was saying and he said that his dead friend probably didn't know that the girl he slept was 17.
@p @mangeurdenuage @astheroth @roka @dude
@terryenglish
Well I would think they are the same people as the fedi devs like I seen some saying they don't want some people using their software and it's another reason I dislike some of these devs because they can't really stop that.
@p @mangeurdenuage @astheroth @roka @dude

@1iceloops123
They're idiots who don't understand that technology doesn't care how it's used and who uses it. The tactics they use today will also inevitably be used against them. They're pursuit of righteousness causes their brain to short-circuit so they can't see the bigger picture.

It reminds me of videogames in the 90s or gamergate early 2010s. It's oh please think of x group and most of the well reasonable people are bad guys.
