You guys keep saying "not one side", what do you mean?

Of everything that I've said, what is it that you disagree with? I don't know what the existence of Pinochet has to do with anything.

Communism was a human extinction event on this planet that is still killing and keeping as slaves countless people, I will have to disagree that the people opposing it are just as bad, if this is what you are saying.

> You guys keep saying "not one side", what do you mean?

Authoritarianism is undesirable and not confined to the left or the right, so opposition to authoritarianism is completely orthogonal to left/right politics.

Communism is terrible. Fascism is terrible. Ultraconservative theocratic regimes are terrible. I wouldn't want to live in left-authoritarian Soviet Whereveristan or right-authoritarian Iran. The common thread is the authoritarianism, left/right doesn't matter. Some hippies on vegan-friendly acid having indiscriminate group sex in the mud and some church handing out fliers advertising their pray away the gay services and warning about the dangers of rock music are definitely on opposite ends of the left/right split, but if neither tries to stop me doing what I want, then they're fine, we can coexist. That's my point.

>right-authoritarian Iran

The politics of the arab world is much closer to socialism than to western conservatism.

Please tell me you are not one of those who thinks Islam is right wing. Islam is its own thing.

Why are the leftist hippies not bothering anyone while the church is offensive and annoying? At least bring Antifa as your leftist contender...
@deadheat @a7 @alexa @karolat @lain @moonman @piggo @static

A theocracy is left-wing? What do right and left mean to you? And what does it matter whether they're left or right? I think you are approaching "Well, actually, Stalin was right-wing" territory. Are anarchists right- or left-wing in your view? Anarcho-communists, anarcho-capitalists, left or right? Like, really, real questions.

The church in the example is just handing out fliers. I am not bothered by fliers. They could be handling snakes in a tent in a rural area, if you like. Antifa actually does want to stop me doing what I wanna do (or they would if they knew who I was and what I wanna do), they're different from the hippies.

>A theocracy is left-wing?

Well, you went to the Middle East, where things get exotic. There's nothing more left wing than socialism. Click on that link and check Arab Socialism, they integrated it into their muslim faith.

>What do right and left mean to you?

Well, it's actually not a scientific term, we use this left/right thing because it's useful.

The left is the people who identify themselves as the left, the socialists and progressives of all types. The right wing is a little different in nature because it's the resistance against socialism and progressivism. It's important to remember that left and right are movements, not ideologies, so you have conservatives, libertarians and the center-right liberals here, who might disagree a lot about everything. And many don't even like to identify as right wing.

We can stop using this left/right thing at any time if we want though, we should only use it if it's convenient.

> I think you are approaching "Well, actually, Stalin was right-wing" territory.

I have no idea why, I try to be as coherent as possible.

>Are anarchists right- or left-wing in your view? Anarcho-communists, anarcho-capitalists, left or right? Like, really, real questions.

If you want a revolution to end the state, I consider you left wing. A revolution that tears down our traditions and institutions, and attempts something new that they don't really know how it's going to work? Sounds like Marxism to me.

The Ancaps are against the left because the see the left as people trying to make the state bigger, but they will oppose conservatism sometimes for the same reason. I don't know, who cares about ancaps anyway lol

>They could be handling snakes in a tent in a rural area, if you like.

Ok nevermind.

@deadheat
Politics? Uh oh time to hide. My kind aren't welcome here. 😦

Lol I fall somewhere in libertarian socialism which I very left wing. Though it is part of the left that wants to see a reduction of state power 🤔

I think that there is much these days that the broad bulk of society (left and right) agrees on. Which is why I don't think it's a coincidence that there seems be a concerted effort to keep people on both sides of the spectrum from talking to eachother. For example right and left people being segregated by social networks. The masters of mankind (yes that is how they see themselves) want the herd to remain divided and passive.
