Germany needs to get over its past to build a better future for itself. So tired of seeing assholes abusing history so they can wag their finger and gain advantage in the present. Sort of a tangent but hate speech laws are a manifestation of such a phenomenon.

Absolutely. It's pretty prevalent in my country Canada too. You don't see the same pervasive mass guilt complex that exists in Germany however.

I guess my main point would be that wringing our hands about crimes in the past that most are too young to remember seems to be doing more harm then good, especially if the actual lessons of history are missed.
