@perrine@deadinsi.de Why are we having some hypothetical argument about some metaphorical microphone? Speech is not some finite resource. We can talk about many different things with many different people. Statements like the one you made drive people away from the left in droves.
@BunnyHearted I don't want to get into a big thing either. You seem like a polite and well intentioned person. I do have to say though that I fundamentally disagree with pretty much everything you said with the exception of time being a finite resource.
@terryenglish Do you agree that "actions speak louder than words"?
What about "allowing people to come to harm through inaction is a form of violence"?
The core of this argument is not that there's no time to talk - it's that if all you do is talk it starts to feel an awful lot like that's all you are ever going to do. And with people in cages, fascism on the rise, climate change and imperialism run rampant (all in a global context) - if you're not taking action now... why, and will you ever?
@terryenglish Not to start a big thing, but although "the microphone" may not exactly be a finite resource - when capitalism (and the systems of oppression it relies on) are grinding you into dust... /time/ can be finite.
And when it is, seeing your comrades blather on about how their boss is good actually, and that, in this one weird case, marx definitely means X, Y or Z actually... instead of taking action to support you and those like you?
That can look a lot like violence 😀
