@danarel@mastodon.technology I would like to bring to your attention a few errors on your site (thinkprivacy.io/). First of all, Telegram does provide a transparency report (t.me/transparency) and it is mostly open source. I would also like to mention that Wickr has only only released the source code for its cryptographic protocol as far as I know. I would also like to recommend LBRY as another alternative to Youtube. I am a huge fan of your work and I hope it keeps improving! ๐Ÿ˜

@cpt Tutanota did reply to your doubts: social.privacytools.io/@cpt/10. Please check your sources before assuming anything. Could please explain as to why you think Tutanota has backdoors?

@cpt @Tutanota Being open source allows independant security researchers to identify backdoors and flaws quite quickly. Any backdoor would have already made the news. Tutanota also has a Warrant Canary (eff.org/deeplinks/2014/04/warr) and publishes a Transparency Report (tutanota.com/blog/posts/transp). Tutanota was also subject to an extensive penetration test in 2013 (tutanota.com/faq#certification). If there were any backdoors, they would have been uncovered during the test. Keep it up, ! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜

@protonvpn I am waiting for the GUI to come. It can be quite cumbersome to use the terminal at times.

@geeess@mastodon.social @Tutanota It depends on why you want it. I have tried the and I found it more suited to advanced/ power users. If you aren't one and are just seeking to improve your privacy, you might want to consider using something like or .

@omgubuntu It's nice to be able to have this ecosystem of interchangeable applications coming on the and . ๐Ÿ˜„

@purism It is good to see the making strides towards an enhanced user experience. The more polished it is, the easier it will be for mass adoption at some point in its life cycle. Keep it up, ! ๐Ÿ˜

@Tutanota Unlike other secure email providers with similar offerings, was using renewable energy and also provided a handy desktop client. The fact that you supported FOSS also helped. Keep it up!

@omgubuntu I am interested in using for streaming Netflix as it may support 1080p. This may have some use for those who use Microsoft's services (like Azure). However, it is best to be cautious due to concerns. Sticking to is a good measure. ๐Ÿ˜

@omgubuntu While the PinePhone has a very competitve price, it solely relies on the ecosystem of volunteers and developers to build software for it. This will severely affect how easy it will be to use for average users. While the Librem 5 appears to be overpriced, they do far more than provide a piece of hardware and is more oriented towards the consumer market.

@Tutanota I woud suggest not using the words 'New email'. Something like 'Compose' sounds much better in my opinion. However, I am very much fond of the current appearance of Tutanota. I hope there won't be any drastic changes. I would also prefer if the 'Pencil button' remained. ๐Ÿ˜€

@Tutanota Frankly, I have never had any issue with signing up anywhere using my Tutanota account. However, it is nice to see that you are addressing problems such as these. Great job, @Tutanota ! Keep it up! ๐Ÿ˜„

Ditching the Google Play Store is not as difficult as you think. Did you know that there are more ways to get many popular apps on your phone besides via the Play Store? Here are some examples:

signal.org/android/apk/
whatsapp.com/android/

You can also get apps like Tutanota, Bitwarden, Telegram and the entire Librem One suite through F-droid (an alternative app store). Try it out: f-droid.org/.

@purism Hey, guys! I really enjoy your articles and I completely advocate what you are doing there. However, I have noticed that you keep repeating and reusing the same material over and over again. (Eg: This article was published on May.) If you want to encourage users to use Librem Social more, I would advise that you take a more active role in this as opposed to Twitter or Facebook. Interact with the community that you have helped create here. ๐Ÿ˜

@Tutanota The new one looks much more polished whereas the old one looked kind of dull. I hope you will make a dark theme that is more fitting for your overall colour scheme, though. (Preferrably with a dash of red.) Overall, this is a major improvement over the last one. Keep up the good work! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘

@mbtsmn@mastodon.social @protonvpn ๐Ÿ˜‚ Why didn't I think of that?

The is slowly making its way to becoming one of the best privacy-friendly alternatives to the current smartphone duopoly! However, if you can't stay without apps like and , just get on a compatible phone.

@molson @purism Why would you prefer plastic cases? Aren't aluminium ones more durable?
