@freepatriot Understand it this way: I'm a Millennial/GenZ mix, and a lot of Millennials and Gen Z grew up under what their parents called a meritocratic, democratic, capitalist system.
It doesn't matter if that's even the truth. What matters is that we were raised under that conceptualization.
Said system that we grew up under lied to us, screwed us, then sold us down the river financially via the college scam, which put us under so much debt that we have no hope of crawling out of.
On top of that, a major chunk of our generation is being sent off to die in the name of this system in a foreign country that we have never heard of in our lives. The country changes, the mission remains the same, and all of our friends and family come back maimed in some form or fashion.
And on top of that, every solution pushed through this system pushes us deeper and deeper into hell, as all of our options and opportunities get burned away by Boomers whose hands are honey-glued to the money printer.
No matter which way we vote in this system, we still get screwed.
No matter which way we run from it, we find more and more obstacles to our escape.
This system has a monopoly on violence, and has exercised it to the maximum degree.
We will never see prosperity. We will never get to retire. We will never get to raise a family. We will never get a happily ever after. We cannot even aspire to a place of stable poverty, as the cost of living has exceeded reason.
When a generation in those conditions face the prospect of worse conditions that are guaranteed for them, while the people who caused it remain insulated from the consequences, they're going to look for alternatives.
Anything is preferable to what we have now, which is no hope for a future.
