That latest boost (fosstodon.org/@JayLittle/11082) is one of these that need to be done for completeness sake and it does not reflect my views on @purism, which I respect greatly for their massive investment in #MobileLinux.
That said, changing refund policies retroactively is never a good or even okay move, as it is just hostile to customers.

@linmob @purism I find these stories disappointing. For linux first phones, users are now forced to choose between a company that has questionable business practices or a company that expects the community to develop all software for free. Maybe these hostile policies around refunds are reflecting just how financially difficult it is to be in this niche market and pay for hardware and development?

@scottt @purism Yeah, it is really difficult and sad. Making FOSS software a sustainable business model is hard (just look at re-licensing of SaaS-able software in the past years), and making a small scale hardware business is also quite difficult (and many fail, think of Pebble and other "kickstarted" companies).
