Ever since upgrading my Fairphone 3 to /e/OS v1.11, the "System storage" app is draining the battery of my phone. The phone is not in use, and the app drains more than 30% of the battery, making the phone last less than a day. The device is also frequently getting warm.
Potentially related:
- "/e/ Drive" lists the same time of usage as "System storage"
- For some reason the "Account administrator" app uses a lot of background data
@omgubuntu I love how this mirrors the Firefox logo - it took me a while to realize how the bird wrapped around the envelope creates a speech bubble.
Although it's going to take a lot to drag me away from @geary , I'm excited to follow the development of Thunderbird - it's amazing to see the project revitalized!

Amazon spent $14.2 million on anti-union consultants last year alone. If that's not a clear sign that corporations are terrified of worker power, I don't know what is.
@Ingo_FP_Angel @abishek_muthian I guess what it boils down to is choice, so that's probably the word I was after at least.
I agree competition is not the correct term - of all the things potentially holding Fairphone back, a lack of competition is not one of them.
That said, they're all companies who need to chase profits - in the end they have no choice but to compete. The best we can do (short of revolting against capitalism) is to try to make ethical businesses competitive.
@Ingo_FP_Angel @abishek_muthian I think the fact that self-repair doesn't void warranty is also a pretty major improvement here. I guess it's not so much in the design of the phone, but still a significant step in the right direction.
I'm not planning on retiring my fairphone 3 any time soon, but it's good to see some competition is popping up. At this point I wouldn't even consider a phone that isn't repairable if I were to buy one.

Apparently Nokia has released a repair friendly phone (G22) in tie-up with iFixit for original replacement parts!

This means we can finally get a repairable smartphone in India, Since #fairphone & #pine64 devices are never coming here.
With un-lockable bootloader, It seems viable for #LineageOS & #postmarketOS hacking; Unisoc T606 chipset is bit concerning though. Any thoughts @joelselvaraj ?
A word of advice for e/OS/ users:
After a few months with @murena #eOS on my #Fairphone3 I have had only one problem: The default camera has good quality, but is slow to take pictures to the point of sometimes failing completely.
I was close to giving up and going back to default Android when I found the solution by @Ingo_FP_Angel in this thread:

@stephenfry I'm always fascinated by the post war narratives of heroes that aren't celebrated - at this point I've gotten so used to them being Communists that I hadn't even considered that other factors such as queerness might play a role.

@leadore @omglinux I mean, it's an app grid. If you open flathub what you see is an app grid. So it kind of reflects the content.
I agree that it's not groundbreaking, but I buy the argument that it's not supposed to take attention away from the actual apps it promotes. So while I generally dislike overly modern logo design that's minimalist to the point of being boring, I think this is neat enough. :)
@alexm It seems Gnome is finally beginning to approximate KDE's red ball technology. I'm very pleased.

@omgubuntu I prefer old fashioned installs to save space mostly, but not to the point where I prefer adding third party PPAs for every app. It becomes too messy.
I have no preference between Flatpak and Snap, and use both on both Fedora and Ubuntu. If people want to make a principled stand how to install their software they should be capable of tracking it down on github and compiling it themselves. For the rest of us, a flatpak link is useful.
Not sure if this means Sapot Browser from Ubuntu Touch can also be installed, but if it does, I highly recommend checking it out! It's basically a Morph browser testing ground, and comes with huge improvements in stuff like the handling of tabs and gesture support. :)

@adamdavidson I love that you seemingly intended to write this post about TV ads, but it works equally well if not better for TVs themselves. Except that it's weird your kid would have that much experience with televisions.
@omgubuntu I think you're right not to moderate more strictly than you do. It's a shame comment sections are a broken format, but its not your fault. There is no correct answer how to moderate them; that's why the internet largely gave up on them.
I don't think deleting more posts is much of a solution. These people have a lot of time on their hands - I think they're like that mobster where you chop of one head and several new ones appear.
