OMG comment section is worse than usual atm 🫠. Getting bored of the "comedy" accounts people set up to troll the trolls, who then do the same, and so on. A well time quip can be funny, but ~2/3 of all comments of late seem to be troll accounts baiting each other. Meh.

Like, there are frequent commenters who I don't kind of "get', and I mostly always disagree with, but… Idk, they're genuine? So it's a bit whatever. I'm not here to mute opinions (even if they are a bit unhinged) so long as they're sincere and per the CoC. But obviously fake troll accounts I can't be dealing with.

Don't mean to moan; you don't follow for me venting, but I just …want y'all who avoid the omg! comment section, or find it a bit strange, to know that I know. I just don't have the confidence to be too heavy handed with people so I let a lot of stuff pass that I shouldn't. I mean, people don't get blocked for telling me I'm sh*t at writing so long as they don't use words on the blocklist 😅

@omgubuntu I think you're right not to moderate more strictly than you do. It's a shame comment sections are a broken format, but its not your fault. There is no correct answer how to moderate them; that's why the internet largely gave up on them.

I don't think deleting more posts is much of a solution. These people have a lot of time on their hands - I think they're like that mobster where you chop of one head and several new ones appear.

@sab @omgubuntu heavy moderated comment sections are usually very boring and totally unintressting.

@Apan @sab there's definitely a fine line between encouraging discussion and farming/shaping discussion, and I've always been wary of unintentionally do the latter.
