So, do I understand correctly that instead of having few platforms (or even single) where people could watch (or listen) to the content and studios would have to share the profits. We are now in situation where greed is just killing both the content and the studios because just fucking everybody wanted the money for themselves? #Fuck #the #capitalism

@ondrej isn't it called "market competition"? Single platform tending to "rule them all" - just look at twitter.

@ruff No, this isn’t competition.

The market competition would be having multiple platform where all the content would be available and you can pick one. The situation with Spotify vs Apple Music vs Google Play Music/YouTube Music (and others) isn’t as dire as the video content crap - not claiming it’s ideal, but the platform providers are mostly decoupled from the content providers.

@ondrej right I get your point but the budgets of cinema products are order of magnitude higher than music, you cannot just give it to all platforms _for free_ and wait till it will drip the money to cover the budgets+profits. Therefore they auction them to cover the costs _here and now_ to invest into next products. I.e. it pisses me off as well but I can understand why. Either budgets should decrease so that it will be a commodity or drips from views should increase tenfolds to generate profit
