@dgold Yeah but.. Transformers!
@measlytwerp@auspol.cafe suddenly the man went off to give the microphone to another part of the room. I made eye contact with him to say what about me and he motioned that he would come back to me. He proceeded to pass the microphone to a large number of people, avoiding eye contact all the time before then saying this was the last question and giving the microphone to someone who wasn't me. He finally made eye contact and I looked at the man in disbelief. He simply shrugged. (2/3)
@measlytwerp@auspol.cafe I've had run-ins with the Merseyside Skeptics. At their first public meeting I asked some pointed questions of their speaker, a TV name. The crowd looked to the speaker to dismiss my question but he couldn't and ended up mumbling into the microphone for a good few minutes. The next meeting the man with the roving microphone explicitly said myself and two people around me could ask a question. The other two got the microphone and (1/3)
@codesections Avoid if possible.
@danie10 Signal doesn't support F-Droid. Telegram is a proprietary, centralised service and the code is chucked over the wall. I wouldn't touch either.
@beka What is it expected you'll do when work with a client brings up your own stuff?
@beka I was under the impression one was required to undergo continuous therapy in order to practice, is that not the case?
@amcewen Where's that? I'm guessing you must have seen the spring in the park next to the Anglican cathedral?
@RobinHood No, it isn't. "Fraud" is a very old term referring to the crime of deceiving someone for gain. "Loophole" is a modern term to describe lawful means of openly circumventing obligations. They're chalk and cheese. Moreover, plenty of rich people are convicted of fraud just the same as poor people.
@themugue@chinwag.org Who one really is, is always who one is right now and never who one would like to be. Who one "really" is, generally, is a person that is not satisfied and that remains true even if one becomes who one would like to be, in which case there is inevitably another self to strive to become. Striving to escape from what is, is a form of suffering.
@Galdrakinn Alternative philosophy: "Firstly, you must be skint and on the dole. Anybody with a proper job or tied up with full time education will not have the time to devote to see it through... Being on the dole gives you a clearer perspective on how much of society is run... having no money sharpens the wits. Forces you never to make the wrong decision. There is no safety net to catch you when you fall." The Manual (How to have a number one the easy way) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Manual
@emacsen In the Noble Eightfold Path: Right View, Right Resolve or Intention, Right Speech, Right Conduct or Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort and only then, Right Mindfulness.
@emacsen This isn't the problem of mindfulness, this is the problem of people who believe people who present mindfulness as value-neutral.
@saxnot Sit in silent meditation for 20 minutes, first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
If you want a recommendation for an app, I would recommend keeping your phone away from meditation.
