One thing I'm not seeing though is an option for non-US keyboard layouts? Am I just missing that, is it coming later, or is that not going to be an option for this model?
Also, this is probably a long shot, but are you looking into any non-US distribution partners, to help cut down on international shipping and import duty hassles for non-US customers?

It's true that AI and its effect on component pricing has vastly inflated product costs; as prices reduce over time, you'll see Purism products reduce in price as well.
Non-US keyboard layouts are on our minds but simply did not make the initial Librem 16 manufacturing run. We'll be investigating options to offer these in the future, however. The same is true for the Librem 14 version 2.
Yes, we are also coordinating logistics and legal requirements with an EU-based Purism branch location. The ultimate goal is just as you described - to reduce shipping/customs costs and RMA delays. Stay tuned!
@purism I bought my son a second hand ThinkPad Carbon X1 Gen7 and put CachyOS on it. He's perfectly happy with it and has all the privacy he needs. For just €180.
