Librem 5 is now $999 (a $300 Savings)! Due primarily to the overwhelming demand for the Librem 5, we were able to lower our component costs and are now able to pass that savings onto new customers.

@purism As early backer, I payed more and received it not long ago.....

@bhyoram @purism I was also an early backer but I paid less 🙃 I'm guessing you backed it after the component shortage caused the crazy price hikes

@bhyoram
And I'm grateful that you contributed to making this obviously complicated endeavour and the development of the mobile linux ecosystem possible through your purchase and wait.
@purism

@silmathoron @purism Thanks, I'm not sorry, this phone is a real step to liberation.

@bhyoram @purism

Making small batch, complex hardware is "*hard* and *expensive*? Need to buy 500 CPUs? Big chip suppliers wont even pick up the phone for less than thousands of parts. So...scrunge and hope you can find the parts. Some of them will charge 50-500% markup to get it faster, *then* will sell of your place in line to someone willing to pay more. Want to complain? Well f*** you, you either pay more or wait, because you can't get it otherwise.

@bhyoram @purism

If this affects big time car manufacturers: finance.yahoo.com/news/tsmc-ch , take a guess how it affects a small time, low volume manufacturing.

Bunnie talks a lot about this bunniestudios.com/ and it is very well worth the read on how small volume manufacturing for electronics works.

@kop316 @purism I did pay more (the price is lower now) and I did wait (received on last may) and I love the phone and love to complain. So yes, f*** me and I like it.

@purism I want this! Who could sponsor my project porting from Pinephone for this?
