We did some reading, and the patent/proprietary question may not relate to #computer hardware as it seems to revolve around a #disk #manufacturing technique that allows higher capacity disks. Normal bluray hardware **may** be able to read/write to those.
This isn't able the ability to play #DRM #film content. We just really want to be able to use #bluray disks, without having to live in #Japan (… though *raises eyebrows*).

Wow. What is happening to tech? Twelve years ago they Sony and Japanese #University were fitting 1TB on a flepping #Bluray!
Has this #technology enjoyed a #trickleDown effort to the people or are the #technoFascists and Hollywood hoarding this tech for themselves now?
We are developing a taste for blood just reading about Bluray and knowing that #diskDrives are being systematically removed from the concept of computing.
@purism Just got my AweSIM in the mail. Works like a charm! Thank you!
@MuuhdistMonk So happy to know that!
@purism @nicolef Absolutely true! Sadly politicians and a part of society want the opposite: If they could they'd centralize the internet itself through government servers, so anything can be scanned for subversion and everyone who utters any word online can be traced. If not enough people agree, they'll keep pushing fear of terrorism and child abuse to get their way. The state is by far the biggest threat to online freedom today.
