Apple Users Got Owned

"The illusion that Apple users have control over their computers was briefly disturbed this week when Apple released their new MacOS version “Big Sur” to the world."
@janssens_bart @purism The goal is to control what users can and can't install on their devices though. One reason is surely to block all platforms that allow #freespeech in order to satisfy the far-left view that they're places for fascists and extremists. It might take a few years to get here, but I won't be surprised if #Apple will next use this to block #Mastodon / #Fediverse and anything that connects to #ActivityPub unfiltered, because "it's too hard to censor the bad man".
@purism I never had such an illusion especially when it came to #Apple and similar services. I pity whoever did and continues to use the #proprietary garbage created by those companies. It's obvious that absolute control is all that's in their mind... which is why I also suspect they're closely in bed with the #government to keep it that way for the purpose of #surveillance
@purism A simple modification of /etc/hosts will kill off this feature, but there is no denying that it does offer protection against apps having been tampered with after installation, which is why I leave it on.
