A Phone That Respects Your Children

"Even if a child doesn’t have a phone of their own, they often borrow their parent’s phone to play games or watch videos. Most phones don’t distinguish between children or adults when it comes to the data they collect."

@purism
A phone that respects privacy, whenever it actually ships.

@purism I don't think a special distinction needs to be made: Spying on people is bad for everyone, children don't need to be made a special category in this case too.

Also thank goodness this refers to data collection: For a second I feared it might delve into stuff like forced #porn #censorship to "protect the children". The last thing I'd need to lose any faith in anything good on this world would be seeing that #conservative stuff ever reaching this wonderful company and line of phones.

@MirceaKitsune @purism Conservative stuff is being banned pretty much everywhere these days. If you dare to disagree with the left-wing progressives it's hate speech and you're a Nazi.

@flav @purism This is so true and I hate it too! I was mainly joking at their paranoia toward #NSFW content, especially the religious ones... it's ridiculous but other than that though I find myself trusting the right more than the left at this stage.

Before I came to #Baraag I was banned on at least 5 #Mastodon #instances in total. Half of them for reasons that were never even explained to me, the other half for daring to discuss #Gab which is considered capital crime on the flagship #instance

@MirceaKitsune @purism That's the reason Fediverse won't see mass adoption, because it's worse for freedom of speech than Facebook and Twitter. In the meantime the so called progressives and LGBT people on Mastodon can bash Christianity and anything that hurts their little feelings all the time. Gargron is seeing Nazis everywhere. The leftists think they're justice warriors fighting racism and bigotry but they're actually causing more division and hostility with their intolerance.

@flav @purism It's an interesting question whether #Mastodon is more censored than the social media of big tech. I still think it's less censored overall: You have instances ran by intolerant admins who ban everyone that disagrees with them, but at the same time a ton of instances to choose from. Conflicting instances will block one another which will form various bubbles: Once you find a server in a circle that works for you, you can get settled in... albeit it may take time for a new user.

@flav @purism The biggest issue when I first discovered #Mastodon and the #fediverse was knowing which #instance to pick: There's no page that objectively lays out the available options. Fixing this would help greatly!

At first I chose the flagship instance by Gargron because "it's the official one so it must be the best maintained"... big mistake. I had bad experiences on mastodon.cloud as well as mastodon.xyz afterward. Finally on one that's tolerant to all #artists and it's been well so far.

@MirceaKitsune @purism Funny thing is fascists are shouting fascists. Freedom of speech is worth fighting for.

@flav @purism Regarding #Gab I can also confirm the obvious: There are many normal people on there, I even interacted with a few and had positive experiences! At the same time it definitely has its rotten apples; I've also come across very creepy fanatics and actual #Nazis (who were openly praising #Hitler and such). So it's a mixed bag... it's just a place that allows everyone to say whatever, which is generally the kind of #internet I believe in.

@MirceaKitsune @purism Mastodon itself has its bad apples but that doesn't count because they represent the so called left-wing progressives. I've been on Gab for a little while and the vast majority of people don't deserve the Nazi label. I'm not very religious but if Christianity is considered Nazism then we live in a sad world. It's funny how most left-wingers don't dare to talk the same way about Islam, because of course that would be islamophobic.
