More about the Librem 14:

Sure, AMD is cool, but no option for Purism, as they try to be as open/free as possible, and (surprisingly) this is simpler with Intel at the moment (there are several threads on this topic in the forums). Also, Purism would have to invest a lot in new designs and new reverse engineering, with little benefit.
If they add a different CPU, it will be ARM or RISC-V or something like that, with no unfree firmware.

@purism Ryzen 4000 options would be appreciated

@purism Sad to see no 4K display option, which means my next laptop refresh will probably be another XPS13. 😟 (I'm looking forward to receiving my Mini and 5 orders, though!)

@esm @purism On a mobile platform, I don't really see the advantage to a 4k display. Super crisp images, sure, but at the cost of battery life and increased CPU load. Since the L14 can drive a 4k monitor, would that be a better solution anyway? You know a little have your cake and eat it too?

@Phaserune @purism I've been using 4K screens across multiple laptops (and desktops) for quite a few years now, and every time I've tried going back to a lower resolution screen, I've hated it.

I spend a LOT of time in front of my laptop's screen, usually in locations without external screens. So, I'm willing to make a lot of sacrifices for high DPI, including a glossy screen, shorter batter runtime, and ordering from Dell. 😉

@purism Taking orders for new products when they haven't even shipped their phones yet.

@purism Still no Thinkpad-style trackpoint + mouse keys I guess? 😕 That's the only thing that is really binding me to Lenovo notebooks. The comfort just overweights any other properties of laptops for me.

@purism This addresses one of the few reasons I could not get a Librem laptop. Finally, there is one with some pretty great specs. Great job, ! 👍

I hope you'll do something similar with the Librem 5 'Fir' batch.
