If the device requires non-free/proprietary binary drivers/firmware, it won't work in #PureOS.

That's fine, but is there a list of devices that work? (except for those made by @purism of course)
@hexmasteen yes some of our users and community choose to have non-free drivers/firmware, we believe giving you the choice is the important thing and not giving away your freedoms by default.
@hexmasteen we agree, we are working to improve user onboarding and give people the clearly communicated options
@purism I agree but it would have been nice to get a warning that pureOS does not support the hardware. Otherwise users think they did something wrong and don't understand the underlying issue. As it is I can't recommend pureOS to non-techies. So I have to recommend purism hardware. ;)
