I just reminded them how #Facebook manipulates what we get to see, how we cannot verify if #WhatsApp is really end to end encrypted, how our personal information are stored forever by these companies without us having any control.

When I asked people to raise their hands if they don't use #Facebook, there were many hands, when I asked for people not using #Facebook nor #Instagram the number reduced, when I added not #WhatsApp, there was just one hand. I'm happy there was at least one person. Abhinav, their FOSS Cell coordinator was that person.

I advise people to use #Matrix bit I got to be honest with you, it is not easy enough for the majority to use it. Don't get me wrong I want them to use it, but it is not easy enough for them to use it. They need to be at least as simple and smooth as those applications

Did you try pattle.im? Its still not feature complete as riot, but has a simple design.

Nope I have not used it, first I hear about it. But I went to the GitHub site and saw 3 screenshot of it. Bit looks decent enough to give it a try. 🤔😁✌️

What about a better desktop client for matrix? I use the weechat plug in but that isn't good for your everyday user.
