Tor Browser for Android 8.5.6 is out now. The latest version for Linux, macOS, and Windows is still 8.5.5.

This update fixes an issue with the aarch64 version, mostly on Android 9, which caused a crash on launch. Apologies to all who were affected.

What software devs can do to combat climate change:

help your local climate groups organise
help in running their digital infrastructure
make them a nice website
if the group is using some FLOSS tool, help making it better

What is hardly going to help combating climate change as a software dev: Shaving off a few CPU instructions on one of your software projects.

Reminder abt climate change

At least Starbucks in the US. I imagine there are some GDPR issues with that in other countries.

You have to love that Starbucks stores your MAC address and ships it off to Google, but "it's a feature!"

Why yes, of course I trust you with my debit card.

Hello everyone !

📢 🔴 URGENT 🔴

An awesome software is dying, because its #developper has not time anymore to care of it.

It's an alternative of Adobe AfterEffect : Natron (natrongithub.github.io/)

Please, can Mastodon community search for a C++ dev, which want to maintain it ? or search for a company which work with free software ? It's very important.

Boost very appreciated

Thanks in advance for your contribution !

@amolith@masto.nixnet.xyz @cloudflarelink It's really depressing to see Mozilla using CF. They use it for their addon store, too. There's no way they aren't aware of the threat Cloudflare poses to privacy and freedom, they just choose to ignore it. :\

@lunasspecto It really is crazy. It isn't particularly helpful, either. It's an incredibly effective (and evil) method of pesudo-DRM, though. If you tie the course to the digital tests, there's no way you can avoid buying it. You can no longer just get a shared copy of the book from the internet.

Dear university professors: please do not require people use a proprietary online coursework solution when the class is supposed to be a lecture class. Making someone use MathXL, My Lab & Mastering, etc, is wrong not only because of the obvious proprietary nature, but they're also (VERY) cost prohivitive. The fact people use loan money for that *on top* of textbooks is crazy. I'm begging my uni professor comrades: please take a stand.

Don't ask anyone to use Skype in any way, but ***espeically*** for medical reasons.

Show thread

Please don't ask your patients to use Skype in any medical capacity. That's insane, especially given MS records some calls and has them transcribed by contractors.

Intellectual Property is when you dress up a peanut in a top hat and a monocle and get a lawyer to make sure no one else ever does this

Minority: I want rights
Society: ok
Mx.EpicSkeptic: HELLO have you considered,,, that in fact,,,, the individual is the biggest minority of them all????

Please for the love of god ban facial recognition at the federal level. I don't think that's really a hot take unless you're some shill for tech companies.
